Collin Lieberg, 34, was captured on CCTV repeatedly walking past female guests with his phone held at hemline level.

He was eventually challenged by guests who spotted his strange behaviour at the Oyster Shed pub near London Bridge in the capital.

The student, who twitched in the witness box, explained his bizarre behaviour on a nervous tic, which he claimed is accentuated by drink.

Lieberg, of Hills Lane, Shrewsbury, and studies history of music at the University of Warwick, looked stunned as an Old Bailey jury found him guilty of outraging public decency for acting in an "lewd, obscene or disgusting manner".

Judge Christine Henson, QC, said Lieberg needs treatment for his perverted ways and will not be sent to jail.

"It seems to me that the interests of the public will be best served if Mr Lieberg were able to attend some sort of sex offenders programme to understand why he has partaken of such behaviour," the judge said.

Prosecutor Max Hardy told the court that the main evidence was CCTV footage of Lieberg during the reception on July 26 last year.

Mr Hardy said: "He was at a wedding reception and he used his mobile phone to film up the skirts or dresses of a number of women."

Giving evidence, Lieberg said he had been innocently walking around the bar with his phone in his hand.

He will be sentenced a date to be fixed.
