Three new recruits have begun work on the acute medical unit and ward 27R at the hospital.

They are the first of a number of staff nurses who will be joining the trust from the Philippines after having their Certificates of Sponsorship approved.

More will join in November and December, subject to checks and international clearance.

A total of 68 nurses were recruited to fill vacancies at the RSH and Telford's Princess Royal Hospital following a visit by trust officials to the Philippines in March.

But the trust ran into difficulties with the Home Office which was preventing the nurses from taking up their posts.
