The Freightex lorry was stopped in Kent and seven immigrants were found in the back. They have since been detained by police.

Claire Capstick-Dale, from Freightex, said: "The load has now been delivered, it was not damaged in any way. It was a completely padlocked, secure fridge hauler. The driver did the right thing and contacted the police as soon as he heard banging coming from the back of the van."

The lorry was delivering goods to CJ Wildlife in Upton Magna, near Shrewsbury.

It comes after a man was arrested last month after walking into the Welcome Break motorway service station off Junction 4 of the M54 and declaring himself to be an illegal immigrant.
