The bus, a GHA Coaches 576 travelling between Shrewsbury and Oswestry, crashed at around 8am.

Stephen Bryce, general manager of GHA Coaches, said that no one had been seriously hurt in the incident, which took place between Merrington and Old Woods, at Bomere Heath.

Mr Bryce said they had spoken to passengers following the crash who had praised the driver's efforts to avoid the car.

He said: "The bus had to swerve to miss an oncoming car, coming at speed and ended up in a ditch.

"Everyone was okay and there were no major injuries but a few people were shaken up.

"The passengers on the bus said the driver did well and it could have been a lot worse."

The road was closed while the bus was recovered from the ditch.

Mr Bryce said that the service had not been disrupted and that the bus had been driven back to the depot, while replacement buses had taken over the timetable for the day.
