Shropshire photographer Richard Greswell captured the spectacular image at Cholmondeley Castle in Cheshire, earning him second place in a competition.

As the jet skier turned a corner and prepared for a jump before letting go of the handles and lifting his arms into the air, Mr Greswell, of Newport, was ready with a long lens. He managed to capture the stunning splashes of water as the jet ski was lifted off the surface and turned before it landed back on the water again.

Mr Greswell was so pleased with the shot he decided to enter it into a competition run by Newport Photo Club.

The club's latest contest saw more than 95 images submitted – and Mr Greswell's daredevil photo managed to bag second place. Newport Photo Club meets on Tuesday evening at 7.30pm at the Baptist Hall in Water Lane, Newport.

The Club was founded in 1984 and aims to encourage and develop the photographic skills of its members. At present there are 100 members, including Mr Greswell, from the Telford and Wrekin area, with some members coming from Market Drayton, Gnosall and the surrounding villages.

Club member Howard Broadbent said "This is a spectacular image."
