The accident took place at the Preston Boats island on the outskirts of Shrewsbury at 5.45pm and caused lengthy tailbacks. One lane was blocked for about two hours as Highways England officers cleared up a fuel spillage and debris.

There were no injuries.

Inspector James Ashton, speaking for West Mercia Police said: "Three vehicles had to be recovered because they were undrivable and there was a spillage on the road."

He said the vehicles were towed by about 7.10pm and Highways England had cleaned up the road by half an hour later.
