John Piddock pleaded guilty to making the threats on June 21 this year.
During a brief hearing at Shrewsbury Crown Court on Monday, the defendant pleaded not guilty to two charges involving alleged assaults against the victim – by beating between June 4 and 10 and causing actual bodily harm on June 21.
Mr Graham Russell, prosecuting, said it was a case of domestic violence and that the pleas by the defendant were accepted by court subject to a consultation with the victim.
The case was adjourned for sentence for reports until September 18 and Piddock, of Elm Close, Oswestry, was remanded in custody.
