Casualty treated after lorry and car crash in Telford

An elderly man was taken to hospital after the car he was driving collided with a lorry near Shifnal.

The crash happened just after 11am, yesterday on Bridgnorth Road in Norton.

The man was treated at the scene and then taken to the Princess Royal Hospital in Telford as a precaution.

Steve Parry, spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service, said: "We were called out to a collision involving a car and a lorry in Norton just after 11am.

"An elderly man was treated at the scene and then taken to hospital. The air ambulance was called, but were told to stand down.

"At the scene we had an ambulance and a rapid response vehicle. The man was not trapped in his car, and it is believed he did not suffer serious injuries."

Three fire engines, police and ambulance were all in attendance. The fire service say the crash involved one car and one lorry.
