Ysgol Y Waun in Chirk has made good progress over the past year, according to Estyn inspectors. They say they are satisfied that a foundation has been established to be built upon.

Headteacher Kath Eccleston praised the hard work and dedication of staff following publication of the report.

In the report, Estyn inspectors said the school had raised the standards achieved by more able pupils, while strong progress has also been made in improving numeracy, ICT skills and Welsh across the curriculum.

Security measures are now fully in place to provide secure access to the Foundation Phase site and standards of behaviour, planning and teaching have also improved.
