He vanished after being let out of his cage during the hot weather.

His owner, Rose Casey, from Meretown, said she always let Archie wander around the house – but on this occasion curiosity got the better of him and he got under a mosquito net on the back door.

"If anyone hears a bird singing Blue Moon, that's Archie as it is his favourite song," said Rose, 58. "I hope he turns up soon."

"I've had him since he was a baby and everyone loves him. He knows everyone's name and recognises us so I'm sure he's missing us.

"I just heard this thud. When I looked out the window Archie was sitting on the other side of the net.

"He must have got himself through a gap at the bottom.

"I just don't know what to do, I've put posters all round the town and I've told everyone about it.

"So many people are on the look out for Archie, I just hope he turns up soon. We just want him home safe and sound."

Archie is an African Grey parrot with a red tail and an leg ring with his ID on it.
