The third Ellesmere Music Festival is being held at the back of The Boathouse in the town on Saturday.

Organisers describe it as a small home-grown festival which celebrates local bands and musicians from around the region.

Cathy Andrew, chairwoman of Ellesmere Community Arts Group "Fizzgigs", which organises the event, said they planned to showcase young artists under the age of 21 as well. She said this year's event had been relocated next to the Mere.

"There won't be a fairground, or lines of portable loos, but there will be a full line-up of great local music, and probably some geese and ducks, too.

"If you love music you will love Ellesmere Music festival.

"We are really hoping for some good weather to make the most of this beautiful setting."

This year organisers say the festival brings a diverse assortment of music with seven bands performing from 11.30am until 11.30pm.

The festival is a donation-funded event with no tickets or entry charge.

Cathy added: "There will be festival donations containers available on the day and your support is very much needed and appreciated so that this event can continue."
