Mr Peter Beardwell, prosecuting, said the attack happened at the takeaway, where Kaya was working, on the evening of January 28.

Mr Marinov was delivering meat there, as he had done for about four months.

"He put the invoice on the table, put the meat in the refrigerator and went back to the front of the shop to collect his money," Mr Beardwell said.

But went he told Kaya how much the bill was Kaya flew at him.

"He pushed him against the wall and started to shout at him in Kurdish. He then headbutted Mr Marinov and punched him repeatedly around the head and neck, breaking one of his teeth and giving him a nose bleed."

In a statement to the court the victim said he had been in a lot of pain and had suffered shock after the attack. He had also lost wages.

Miss Jodie Smith for Kaya, said her client had no previous convictions and was a hard working man. After the attack he ran after Mr Marinov to say sorry, she said.

Judge Gosling told Kaya that his victim has suffered a very unpleasant injury.

"By ordering compensation I hope he will be able to have cosmetic work on his teeth," he said.
