Man charged over Shrewsbury sexual assault

A man has been charged over a sexual assault in Shrewsbury this week.

Police are investigating the assault, which occurred just before 4.30am on June 7, at a private address.

Joseph Micheal Short, 29, of Whitchurch Road in Shrewsbury has been charged with sexual assault , in connection with the incident. He is due to appear at Shrewsbury Crown Court on Monday, June 15.

Following the incident, the victim a woman in her twenties, fled the address before contacting police.

As part of the investigation the police are keen to trace two young men who were in the vicinity of the traffic lights on the junction of Ditherington Road with Mount Pleasant road, near to the Ableworld business at around 4.30am.

These men spoke with the woman who was wearing a short dark coloured dress.
