Man, 45, denies murdering Shrewsbury woman

A man has appeared in court to deny murdering a 47-year-old woman whose body was found in a trade park.

Nigel Woolley pleaded not guilty to murdering Julia Mercer between December 22 and 25 last year.

Woolley, 45, from Shrewsbury, appeared at Stafford Crown Court via videolink yesterday and has been remanded in custody.

Mrs Mercer's body was found at Shrewsbury Dial-a-Ride's premises in in Featherbed Lane on Sundorne Trade Park. She was a finance officer and lived in Buttington Road, Shrewsbury.

The case was adjourned and the trial is expected to start on August 24.
