Aaron Luke Wilcox had been assessed as being a suicide risk and officers needed to remove his belt and give him non-rip clothing while taking him into custody, a prosecutor said.

The 24-year-old had been arrested on March 27 for breaching a non-molestation order, magistrates in Telford heard.

Wilcox was not present at his trial and a warrant was issued for his arrest after magistrates found him guilty of breaching the order and assaulting two police officers.Wilcox had previously denied the charges.

Witness Jade Roberts, who had been in a relationship with the defendant, said that she had received text messages just minutes after he had been served with an order banning him from communicating with her. Later the messages became threatening.

Mrs Roberts confirmed Wilcox had texted her to "Ring the cops and get them to nick me. I'm going to do something stupid again and it's your fault again."

Wilcox, of Bridgeford Way, Shrewsbury, also sent a message saying he would give her a reason to "act like a scared wife".

When asked if she knew it was the defendant, Ms Roberts replied: "Yes, because he can't spell properly."

Police officers Anthony Merrick and Jamie Adams both gave evidence that Wilcox had attacked them as they brought him to a cell in Shrewsbury Police station following his arrest.
