Girl cyclist, 12, injured in Shrewsbury collision

A 12-year-old girl was was taken to hospital today after she was in collision with a car as she cycled along a road in Shrewsbury.

The girl was in collision with a Peugeot 407 as she made her way along Roman Road, at the junction with Longden Road.

Police were called and the girl was taken to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital for treatment for a leg injury.

Abigail Hartley, spokeswoman for West Mercia Police, said: "Police were called at 8.15am to the junction of Roman Road and Longden Road. A Peugeot 407 had been in collision with a cyclist ridden by a 12-year-old girl.

"She sustained leg injuries and was taken to Royal Shrewsbury Hospital for treatment.

"The road was cleared and any witnesses should call the police on 101 quoting reference 90s of 19 May."
