During a recent Proceeds of Crime hearing at Birmingham Crown Court it was ruled that 31-year Farraqh Hadiat had benefited by £125,000.

However, a financial investigation revealed that Hadiat, of Acocks Green, Birmingham, had little or no realisable assets. Judge Simon Drew QC imposed a confiscation order in the sum of just £170 and Hadiat has a month to pay the cash or spend a further eight days in prison.

Mohammed Shakeel, 26, had a criminal benefit of around £29,500 from his part in the conspiracy. Shakeel, of Hall Green, Birmingham, was said to have realisable assets of just over £3,000 and a confiscation order gives him six months to pay the monies or face two months in prison.

Both men had met the car-ringing gang's leader, 30-year-old Jangeer Khan, when they were serving sentences at the same prison in 2011.

The Proceeds of Crime applications against Khan, and four other gang members, have been adjourned.

All five had admitted a role in the £1 million 'sophisticated and professional' plot.

Khan, of Bush Close, Dothill, Telford, was jailed for 40 months for the car conspiracy and a further 10 months for being concerned in the supply of cannabis.

His 22-year-old nephew, Adnan Khan, of Manor Road, Hadley, was jailed for 12 months for handling stolen cars and five years for his part in a separate conspiracy to supply Class A drugs in Telford.

John Allen, 25, a mechanic, of Spout Way, Malinslee and Peter Dutton, 33, of Marton Drive, Wellington were also jailed.
