Letter: Ukip politicians and policies have faced rather torrid time

It has been very clear the treatment dished out from some left-leaning  groups towards Ukip has been horrendous and very un-British over the last 12 months.

Verbal abuse, physical assaults on activists, physical assaults on its leader, vandalism on Ukip property have all been the order of the day.

None of this has been condemned by the two main parties, their silence especially that of the Labour Party has possibly encouraged this behaviour. These people are attempting to silence a legitimate political party through intimidation.

Ukip has produced an excellent costed manifesto, anyone who took the time to read it could clearly see that it set out our stall – our dreams and aspirations for the future of the United Kingdom.

Nigel Farage attempted yet again to get Ukip's views across at the second political debate on the BBC, alas he was shouted down by a left supporting audience who enthusiastically applauded the two leaders of two nationalist parties, one of which, the SNP whose ultimate goal is splitting the union.

It was extremely odd to watch the audience stay silent when Farage spoke but applaud the two nationalists and Miliband when they repeated what he said.

Farage pointed out a number of Ukip's aims, many of which have been well received by numerous organisations. However some Ukip critics have an unhealthy preoccupation and dislike of all of Ukip's aims be they costed and well thought out.

When we say cut foreign aid it is to a level which is equal to the USA. Where is the issue with that.

When we say a crackdown on health tourism is urgently needed we are again attacked. It matters not Farage mentioned HIV patients as an example, he could have mentioned those with TB, cancer, or any long- term medical treatment, is HIV more worthy than another?

We require immigration on par with the Australian points system – what is wrong with that? Our already strict immigration rules from all non-EU countries work perfectly well, why not control immigration from the EU as it used to be.

Why are those at Ukip who have a desire to leave the costly club which is the European Union and regain control of our borders branded racist, fascist and all the other utter laughable nonsense the left spouts at every opportunity?

Why are those at Ukip who have a desire to put the UK citizen first and still remain helpful and caring to others around the globe, so lambasted?

The UKshould govern itself and most definitelyshould not have any border controls from the European union.Europe sees what is ours as theirs, from our jobs, homes and health service to our benefits.

If this indeed is the case then the UK really does have a problem and Ukip like the SNP will grow stronger and we are going nowhere.
