West Mercia Police officers began searching for the 40-year-old woman, who was described as vulnerable, at about 7.30am this morning.

A police helicopter was deployed to help search for the missing woman.

Officers say she was located canal side at about 9am and stopped boats in the canal between Tyrley and Market Drayton while they negotiated with her.

Constable Mick Sturland, of West Mercia Police's Market Drayton safer neighbourhood team, said: "Vulnerable female now safely out of the water in officers' hands.

"Many thanks for all your help.

"Great team work for a safe outcome."
