Robert Sutton, 35, is alleged to have tied up the member of staff at an office at the Plas Canol Mental Health Unit in Newtown, Mid Wales.

He appeared at a preliminary hearing at Mold Crown Court yesterday via a live link from the Stoke Heath custody centre at Market Drayton. He is charged with false imprisonment, robbery, two counts of criminal damage and possession of cannabis.

Defending barrister John Hedgecoe asked that the case be adjourned so that the defence could obtain a medical report from a forensic psychiatrist. Judge Philip Hughes fixed the plea hearing to the end of May.
