The border collie had gone missing earlier in the evening but was eventually tracked down on a 20ft drop in Pant, near Oswestry.

The owners, realising their dog was trapped, called Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service at about 6.20pm.

Firefighters from Oswestry used line safety equipment to pull the dog to safety after an hour-and-a-half and reunite him with his owners.

A spokesman for the fire service said: "The dog had been missing but was eventually found 20ft down a cliff edge.

"He couldn't get back on his own so firefighters had to help him back up again."
