Conservatives and Labour running neck and neck ahead of TV debate

The Conservatives and Labour are running neck and neck in the latest opinion polls, ahead of tomorrow's televised leaders' debate.

Published

A poll of polls has the parties tying on 34% each, with the Tories recovering after slipping behind Labour when last week's TV grilling of David Cameron and Ed Miliband saw the Labour leader's rating soar.

At 15%, Ukip has almost double the 8% for the Lib Dems, with the Greens on 4%.

Nigel Farage is said to be preparing "rigorously" for tomorrow's debate. However, the comments by Ukip's campaign chief Patrick O'Flynn's appeared to contradict Mr Farage's claim last week that he did not want to spend too much time preparing for the seven-way debate.

Mr Farage will lock horns with Prime Minister David Cameron, Labour leader Ed Miliband, Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg, Green leader Natalie Bennett, SNP leader Nicola Sturgeon and Plaid Cymru leader Leanne Wood in the live two-hour debate.
