Thieves broke into the Beehive pub, in Curriers Lane, Shifnal.

The raid happened between 3.40am and 3.59am yesterday.

Offenders smashed two alarms at the site as they attempted to conceal their crime. It is not known how they broke into the pub.

They damaged an internal door and a cupboard, from which nothing was taken, before stealing a quantity of cash from a safe.

It is believed they escaped through a fire door at the back of the pub.

Police were called by one of the pub's occupants who woke up following the disturbance.

A spokeswoman for West Mercia Police said the burglary was not being linked to a similar late night raid at the Talbot in Dawley on Saturday.

In that raid, landlord Jeff Windsor and his staff were threatened at knifepoint after being targeted as they cleared up at the end of the night.

Anyone with any information about the Shifnal incident should call 101, quoting 0042 of March 23.
