Sophie Burgess was just 19 when she gave birth to Evie and Oliver. Her family today said she could not wait to become a mother.

Her older brother Craig paid tribute to her, saying she was a wonderful sister who loved life and lived every minute to the full.

Oliver and Evie were born eight weeks prematurely

"I honestly cannot begin to describe Sophie, she was full of life. She loved music and went to Birmingham all the time for gigs, she love her rock music and was a big fan of the bands All Time Low and You Me At Six.

"As well as her music she loved travelling, she had travelled all over the country.

"She could not wait to become a mom and as a family we will make sure her babies never forget her as they are her legacy now."

Sophie, from Telford, a former pupil at Phoenix Academy in Dawley, started to feel cramps so she and her partner Alex went to the town's Princes Royal Hospital. She was transferred to Wolverhampton's New Cross Hospital.

It was discovered that she had contracted septicaemia and her condition deteriorated.

Both babies were born eight weeks prematurely. Oliver was born naturally and Evie by Caesarean section.

Sophie, from Randlay, was conscious when both babies were born never got to meet them because she suffered complications and was transferred to another department.

Craig said today: "It is so sad that my sister never got to hold her children, but Alex has not left their side since. They are out of the incubators now and they are both doing well.

"They are amazing and Sophie would have been so proud of them. The main message is that I just don't want my sister to be forgotten.

"I have sort of taken it upon myself to make sure Sophie isn't forgotten as she was an amazing person, and sister."

The GoFundMe Page

Sophie, a care worker at Myford House in Horsehay, is survived by Alex, her parents Roy and Mandy Burgess and 23-year-old Craig, from Wolverhampton.

Family friend Ria Norris has set up a fundraising page in Sophie's memory, to create a trust fund to help the babies as they grow up.

On the Go Fund Me page it says: "Sophie was so excited to become a mother after being told she may struggle to have children.

"We hope to raise money in Sophie's memory so that their dad Alex can use this towards items they may need or to put in a trust fund for the twins."
