"We are stressed, frustrated and disappointed." That's the response from the mother of murdered Shropshire teenager Georgia Williams after a report into how police dealt with Jamie Reynolds before he killed the 17-year-old has been delayed.

Reynolds murdered schoolgirl Georgia in 2013. But five years earlier he had lured another young girl back to his Telford home and tried to strangle her.

A total of eight police officers and one member of police staff from West Mercia Police have since been served with misconduct notices.

Devon & Cornwall Police is investigating allegations of misconduct against West Mercia Police force over the original investigation and Georgia's parents, Steve and Lynnette Williams, said they were supposed to get a report on their findings yesterday.

A spokesman for Devon & Cornwall Police said there had been "a short delay" and they hoped to present the final report to West Mercia Police soon.

Mrs Williams, has today spoken out about the delay and said: "I am disappointed that the report was not produced by a date that has been anticipated by us for months. We seem to have to fight for everything, this date was confirmed to us two weeks ago and now it's going to be at least mid-March before we get it.

"It's been nearly two years now since Georgia was murdered. Senior officers identified that the 2008 inquiry had not been done properly within two days of her disappearance.

"It was sent to the Independent Police Complaints Commission and I am also disappointed with them with their non-action and them sending the investigation back to the police. I feel that West Mercia has had a long time to prepare their response to this report and I am disappointed by a lot of their actions.

"The whole process has made me and Steve very frustrated and stressed."

Reynolds was cautioned by police in 2008 when, aged 17, he lured a girl to his house in Avondale Road, Wellington.

This was five years before he hanged Georgia in a sexually motivated attack in May 2013.

The report is expected in mid-March.
