This week the centre's programme of school holiday activities has included family fun paper-making sessions for children aged five to 11, running every day from 1pm to 2.30pm.

Younger siblings also got the chance to join in with a special Paper Making Toddle Time session for under fives on Tuesday morning.

Catherine Collier at the centre said: "It was not only a chance to learn something new and be creative, but a great way to teach children about recycling while mushing up materials.

"It's as much fun for adults as well as children!" she said.

In addition to the centre's "half term specials", normal activities continue – the meadows are free for walks and exploring and visitors can also try their hand at Geocaching, a modern version of a treasure-hunt using a hand-held GPS device to navigate to different locations where a there is cache to open or secret to discover.

Every half term and summer holiday the visitor attraction provides hands-on family activities.

Toddle Time is the centre's weekly session for little ones, held each Tuesday with activities specifically aimed at younger children encourage them to explore nature and get creative.
