Early morning blaze in Ludlow town centre

Fire crews in Ludlow were called out to tackle an early morning fire at a commercial property.

The incident, which took place in Tower Street, began at around 7.19am this morning.

Three fire engines were dispatched to the fire from Ludlow and Craven Arms.

A spokesman for Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service said they used two hose reel jets, two covering jets and breathing apparatus to extinguish the blaze.

The property was described as concrete and metal in construction and 15 by 25 metres in size.

After extinguishing the fire roof panels were removed to make the building safe.
