Crash case driver faces trial over Telford teenager's death

A 24-year-old man has appeared in court in connection with the death of a Shropshire teenager in a car crash.

Georgina Oakley, 18, and her sister Gema Marsh, from Telford, were both passengers in a car which was involved in an accident in Stoke-on-Trent on July 23.

Georgina, of Deer Park Road, Wellington, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her sister Gema, 28, was taken to the University Hospital of North Staffordshire with serious injuries.

The single-vehicle crash took place on Baddeley Green Lane at 4.20am.

Following an investigation by police in Stoke-on-Trent, Jason Tatton was charged with causing death by dangerous driving.

He is also accused of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and driving a motor vehicle when his alcohol level was above the legal limit.

He appeared before magistrates at North Staffordshire Justice Centre last Friday.

No pleas were entered.

Tatton who lives in the Clough Hall area of Kidsgrove, will next appear at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court on February 27.
