Man arrested after Shropshire police car struck in alleged hit-and-run

A police car was struck in an alleged hit-and-run incident in Shropshire.

A man has been arrested for a series of driving offences, including allegedly failing to stop after hitting the police vehicle head on near Oswestry.

The man, aged between 25 and 30, was also arrested for alleged dangerous driving, having no licence and insurance as well as carrying drugs on board.

The accident happened at about 1.15am on Saturday in Chirk Bank.

Police said no-one was injured as a result of the accident.

Sergeant Lee Johnson, of West Mercia Police, tweeted:

The man was being questioned by officers at Shrewsbury Police Station into the alleged offences.
