Motorcyclist seriously injured in Shropshire border crash

A motorcyclist has been seriously injured after coming off his bike on the Shropshire border.

The collision happened at the junction of the A5 and Ivetsey Road, Wheaton Aston, near Newport, at about 9.10pm last night.

Two ambulances, a community first responder, a rapid response vehicle, a paramedic officer, the Trusts MERIT Team and a BASICS Doctor attended the scene.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: "Crews arrived to find a car and a motorcycle that had been in a collision.

"The man riding the motorcycle had suffered serious head, leg and pelvic injuries. The man, believed to be in his 20s, received emergency treatment at the scene and was also anaesthetised by the doctor.

"The man was transferred by ambulance using blue lights and sirens to Royal Stoke University Hospital for further emergency treatment. The hospital had been pre alerted to the patient's serious condition.

"A girl, who was a passenger in the car at the time of the crash, was treated for minor injuries at the scene and transferred to New Cross Hospital, in Wolverhampton, for further treatment."

This car crashed into trees on the A518

Also last night a driver ended up in trees after two cars and a van crashed near a roundabout in Telford. The collision between a Toyota, a Subaru and Vauxhall van happened on the A518 at Trench during last night's evening rush hour.

No-one was injured in the collision which left one car smashed up on a grass verge and another at the side of the road.

A woman was also trapped in a car in Wellington after her vehicle left the road and hit a tree. She was taken to hospital by ambulance but her injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

The crash happened at about 7pm on Whitchurch Road.
