Two pigs die in Aston Eyre barn fire

Two pigs died and several more animals had to be rescued by firefighters after a barn fire broke out tonight in the Shropshire countryside.

Eighteen piglets and three cows were led to safety after the fire broke out in Aston Eyre, near Bridgnorth.

Six fire crews were sent to the scene after the fire broke out shortly after 7pm last night, and spent more than an hour bringing the blaze under control.

A spokesman for Shropshire Fire and Rescue said despite several animals being rescued,two pigs had died. Crews from Bridgnorth, Craven Arms and Much Wenlock attended the scene.
