Man and dog cut free after car overturns in Ludlow

A man and his dog were cut out of a 4x4 after it overturned in Ludlow.

Both the driver and his canine companion escaped injury after the car flipped onto its roof on the B4364 at Middleton last night.

Three fire crews including a rescue tender from Craven Arms, Ludlow and Wellington went to the scene.

Firefighters used hydraulic cutters and small gear to free the man and his dog after the collision at about 10.30pm.

Police and ambulance crews were at the scene and the man was checked over by paramedics when he was released by 11pm.

Chris Kowalik, spokesman for the West Midlands Ambulance Service, said: "We were called by the fire service to an overturned car on the B4364 at about 10.40pm on Sunday. We sent an advanced community paramedic in a rapid response vehicle and an ambulance crew. The driver was checked over at the scene and was uninjured."

Meanwhile an elderly resident was checked over after gas was accidentally left on at a house in Telford.

Fire crews were called to Madebrook Close in Sutton Hill at 8.15pm on Sunday.

A fire engine from Telford Central went to the scene along with an ambulance .

Fire fighters stood by to assist ambulance crews after reports of the gas being left on accidentally in a property occupied by an elderly resident.

The gas was was turned off and the patient checked over by paramedics.

Fire crews left the scene by 8.30pm.
