The black and white animal is thought to have been stolen from a field near Ludlow after it went missing over the weekend – but there were no known witnesses and there are not any suspects as yet, police say.

The suspected cattle theft took place some time between November 14 and November 17 at a farm near Little Hereford.

The missing cow, described as a Herefordshire crossed with Friesian Heifer, was reported missing by the owners on Tuesday.

Sarah-Jane Lynch, spokeswoman for West Mercia Police, said: "It was in an unsecure field. Nothing was seen or heard, there are no suspects and no CCTV footage.

"Police have made some enquiries with other farms in the area, but nothing has been found.

"It is an unusual case. There are no other incidents linked to it," she said.

Anyone with information should call police on 101.
