An application to build the park to the north east of Combermere Abbey, near Whitchurch, has sparked concerns about the loss of agricultural land.

It would be located near the Grade II-listed Combermere Historic Park & Garden, and about 100 metres from the Combermere Site of Special Scientific Interest.

The solar park would provide power for about 3,000 homes.

The scheme is due to be discussed by Cheshire East Council's strategic planning board in Crewe on Wednesday.

Wrenbury-cum-Frith Parish Council has objected to the application after raising concerns about the loss of agricultural land and the visibility of the site.

Meanwhile, separate plans for a 178-berth marina in Wrenbury, near Whitchurch, will also be discussed by councillors at next week's meeting.
