Rhys Bradley, from Ludlow, is no longer in a critical condition and has been discharged from Birmingham Children's Hospital.

He had been airlifted to the accident following an accident on Henley Road, near Ludlow Cemetery, last week.

The crash, which took place as Rhys crossed the road shortly after 8am on Wednesday, left him semi-conscious, with a bleed on the brain, a fractured skull and a torn liver.

His release from hospital follows brain scans to ensure the bleed on the brain was contained and causing no further damage.

Parents Nigel and Tina Bradley, of Rock Green Crescent, who were at the side of the Ludlow School pupil at Birmingham Children's Hospital, said he had been unconscious for a couple of days following the accident, and had been confused and suffering memory loss when he came around.

Rhys was hit by a silver Skoda Octavia on the road by a car travelling past the cemetery towards the Rocks Green roundabout on Wednesday morning.

The driver, a 32-year-old woman from Ludlow, was uninjured.

West Mercia Police are appealing to hear from anyone who saw the collision or the circumstances leading up to it. Witnesses can call police on 101.
