The stage is ready, all it needs now is for the lights to go up and the sound system to be plugged in.

More than 100 musical acts will be at this weekend's Shrewsbury Fields Forever.

And the biggest name will tonight get the party started, with Tinie Tempah appearing on the main stage.

Shed Seven will headline tomorrow and a host of other big names including The Cribs, Russell Kane, Lee Nelson and Justin Moorhouse are also due to appear.

Organisers say they are hoping to continue to build on the success of the event, which is now in its fourth year. And the weather is also set to be kind, with calm sunny weather continuing through the weekend.

Dene Edwards, the event's director, said: "We can't wait to get started. We are back for a fourth consecutive year and it's a real coup to have Tinie Tempah, one of the biggest artists Shrewsbury has seen, performing tonight.

"As well as three days of music, we've got one of the strongest comedy line-ups we have had."

There will also be art workshops, a food and drink court, river trips, a party aboard the river boat Sabrina and a funfair. And as well as the main stage, there will be a dance tent and a "silent disco".
