A group of teenagers set out to break 12 world records in six hours - and think they may have managed three.

The Support4carers team from Telford, which is made up of 15 to 17-year-olds, spent yesterday raising money for young people who look after someone who may have a disability or an illness.

Shoppers visiting Tesco in Madeley found themselves possibly witnessing history as the group spent the day outside the store trying to smash the record for achievements such as the most T-shirts put on in one minute, the fastest time to eat a Ferrero Rocher, the most M&Ms thumb catapulted in 60 seconds, the fastest time to eat a jam doughnut with no hands, the most cartwheels in one minute and the most bubble gum bubbles blown in one minute.

And organisers believe they have beaten the record for eating the most cream-filled biscuits in a minute, which currently stands at three.

They also believe they have beaten the fastest time to eat a Ferrero Rocher with no hands, managing the feat in 18 seconds, 0.6 of a second faster than the current record.

And they are also hopeful that they have established the fastest time to set up a chess set - though they are still confirming the times.

Yesterday's event also included a balloon race and a six-hour bike ride carried out by the group of 12 teenagers taking turns on an exercise bike.

Shoppers were challenged to guess the number of miles the group cycled on the static bike , with a prize for the winner.

The group is also still calculating the amount of money they have raised for charity from the event, but hope to have beaten their target of £500.

Charlotte Pearson, 17, of Stirchley, said: "It went really well and hopefully we have broken about three records.

"We're still counting up how much money has been raised, but there were lots of passers-by while we were there."
