Woman arrested after motorcyclist seriously injured in Shifnal

A woman has been arrested following a hit and run on a main street in Shifnal.

A motorcyclist was airlifted to University Hospital in Birmingham with serious injuries to his arm, leg and face following the accident.

West Mercia Police said the rider of a Kawasaki 500 motorcycle collided with a grey Mini before then colliding with a black Vauxhall on Broadway in Shifnal at 11.55am.

Police officers were left hunting for the driver of the Mini for up to an hour after the accident after she left the scene.

Kieren Bodill, a spokesman for West Mercia Police said: "The woman driver of the Mini has been arrested and taken to Princess Royal Hospital, where police will investigate further.

"The driver of the Vauxhall received no injuries."

West Midlands Ambulance Service deployed an ambulance, paramedic officer and Air Ambulance from Cosford to the scene of the accident.

The motorcyclist was given pain relief and fluids before being immobilised and flown to hospital.
