AFC Telford manager Liam Watson and Shrewsbury Town boss Micky Mellon have both joined the charity ice bucket challenge craze.

They were among personnel from both clubs who got a soaking.

Watson and AFC Telford managing director Lee Carter took the plunge to raise money for the Motor Neurone Disease Association.

Both agreed to undertake the ice bucket challenge at an already cold and rain-swept New Bucks Head, where Telford drew 3-3 with Southport, yesterday.

Watson was drenched by freezing water before the game while Carter braved the same fate at half time.

Watson said he was inspired to do it by former Altrincham footballer Mark Maddox, who was diagnosed with the disease in 2010.

He said: "It was very cold and I picked the worst day ever but I am pleased to have done it. It is a great cause and it is all for Mark Maddox, who I played against all through my career. He is younger than me and he has motor neurone disease so out of respect for him, that is why I have done it."

Meanwhile, at Shrewsbury Town Mellon along with Mike Jackson, Andy Robinson, Andy Mangan, Liam Lawrence, Connor Goldson and Ashley Vincent all joined in, with their soakings captured on video.
