Woman dies after being hit by train near Shropshire border

A woman has died after being hit by a train just over the Shropshire border.

It happened shortly after 8.20am today between Wrenbury and Nantwich in Cheshire.
A British Transport Police spokesman said: "We were called to the line close to Sound Lane in Nantwich, Cheshire after a report that a woman had been struck by a train.
"Officers from BTP and Cheshire Constabulary attended the incident, which was reported to BTP at 8.24am and is currently being treated as non-suspicious.
"Medics from North West Ambulance Service also attended, but the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
"We are currently working to identify the deceased and officers will assist in the compilation of a report for the coroner."
