The crew based in Bridgnorth welcomed vehicles of all sizes to be cleaned at the fire station in Innage Laner to raise money for Asthma UK.

Ashley Brown, from the station said: "It went really well, which was surprising because of the weather.

"We had to dodge torrential downpours and thunderstorms."

Despite the inclement conditions, the group managed to raise £380 for the charity at the car wash on Saturday (JUL 19).

Mr Brown and his wife Gemma are dedicated fundraisers for Asthma UK, after losing their son Cameron to the condition in 2008.

They set up their own fund under the charity, called simply Cameron's Fund.

Mr Brown, a retained firefighter in Bridgnorth, has helped organise several car washes at the fire station in aid of the fund.

Mrs Brown has also organised numerous fundraising activities in her spare time and between them, and with the support of the community, thousands of pounds have been raised for the charity.

Mr Brown: "We are very grateful to everyone who did brave the weather and brought their cars."

The fire crew will be holding another car wash later in the year to raise money for the Firefighters Charity.

But the car wash for Cameron's Fund has also become an annual event for the crew, which will be returning next year.

Mr Brown said: "It will be back again next year - hopefully with better weather."
