Ludlow housing plan set for approval despite objections

Plans for 215 homes on the outskirts of Ludlow are being recommended for approval, despite objections from town leaders.

The proposal for a mix of two to five-bedroom houses and a shop, next to the A49 north of the town, will go before Shropshire Council's planning committee on Tuesday.

Officers have recommended the committee grants permission because of the need for affordable housing in the county, despite it being a "major departure" from the town's development plan, and not included in Shropshire Council's five year SAMDev plan for housing in the county.

But local councillors are not happy with the proposal.

Ludlow Town Council has formally objected, stating concerns over flooding and road safety, and how the town's existing infrastructure will cope.
