A £1 million scheme to build one full-size and six mini pitches at Park Hall near Oswestry is a step closer after the club secured the land in a deal with Shropshire Council.

Having bought the 10 acre site, the club is now applying for grants to create the "Football Hub" adjacent to The Venue and Park Hall Stadium.

It says it will be submitting a funding application to the Football Association of Wales from its 3G strategy fund and is also seeking other potential funding partners, which is estimated to cost around £1million.

Chief Operations Officer, Ian Williams, said: "We are really excited about the project as it will allow the club to grow its football business and provide first class facilities for the local community.

"The club has recently submitted an application for planning permission and is currently in the process of making an application for funding to the Football Association of Wales.

"The additional facilities will enable the club to expand its current football operation and create a real 'football hub' for the community.

"With our scholarship and academy programmes continuing to improve and our recently established Community Foundation starting to create excellent links with local schools and clubs and the club continuing to host regional coaching sessions and matches, the new pitches will encourage even greater participation from all sectors of the community."

Having released plans to expand football facilities in February TNS, current Welsh Football champions, said they were delighted that the land has been secured with Shropshire Council.

The site will provide the club with an additional full size floodlit pitch, six floodlit mini pitches and additional parking.
