Motorists are being warned of a high volume of traffic on the motorway as bikers head to the fourth annual Bike 4 Life event between Shrewsbury and RAF Cosford.

The cyclists will leave Meole Brace in Shrewsbury at 11.30am on Sunday morning and will ride to the RAF Museum at Cosford via the A5, M54 and A41.

The 23-mile journey takes around half-an-hour but, depending on the number of people participating, there could be delays and some congestion along this route.

Emergency planning officer for the Highways Agency, Frank Bird said: "There may be some delays for road users along these routes on Sunday morning, but it shouldn't be for long and we ask for people's understanding as it's a great cause.

"The event raises funds for the Midlands Air Ambulance and the museum. Our advice to drivers is to plan their journeys around the event or use alternative routes if possible around the middle of the day."

The event will include displays and exhibitions from some of the best known manufacturers in the UK as well as groups and organisations that promote road safety.

The ride out is free to enter but those who take part will be asked to make a donation.
