Letter: Plagued by traffic lights

Published

I agree with others who have written about the stupid traffic lights on islands near Telford centre.

I no longer visit Telford centre unless necessary, but a couple of Sundays ago I went to have lunch at an eaterie near to the Malinslee roundabout.

On leaving, four cars approaching the island from another direction were stopped to let me go onto the island without waiting. Without the lights we could have all filtered onto the island – which is the main purpose of roundabouts.

Putting traffic lights on roundabouts is bad enough, but not making them part-time is criminal. Councillors know people do not want them but, like the Government, they do what they want anyway.

My advice to people is to go to Wellington – good shopping and a lovely market – and no traffic lights on islands.
