Boy, 14, charged with raping 10-year-old girl in Shrewsbury

A 14-year-old boy has been charged with raping a 10-year-old girl in Shrewsbury.

The local teenager, who cannot be named for legal reasons, has also been charged with attempted rape after an incident in St Michael's Street between 3.30pm and 4.30pm last Friday.

He was charged yesterday evening after being questioned by specially trained detectives and and will appear before a special sitting of Telford magistrates tomorrow.

The alleged assault took place at an isolated spot on disused land near the Arc car wash off St Michael's Street, heading out of the town centre towards the fire station and Ditherington.

Detectives in Shrewsbury are still appealing for witnesses to come forward with any information in this case.
