Six prisoners were believed to be involved in the demonstration at the prison in Featherstone.

The group, most of whom were clad in fluorescent orange jackets were heard shouting down from the roof.

Staff from G4S were seen around the perimeter of the prison making sure the area was secure.

A similar protest involving three inmates took place in October, just days after the £150million prison was dubbed 'Jokewood' in the latest in a series of damning reports.

The prison was criticised for high levels of violence, while the report uncovered evidence of criminals abusing drugs and alcohol and hundreds of sex offenders due for release without having their behaviour properly addressed.
