The wheelchair sportsman, from Telford, was recognised for services to athletics when he received his honour from Prince Charles at Buckingham Palace this afternoon.

Mickey, who was born with a rare medical condition, took gold in the 100m sprint at the London 2012 Paralympics.

He said: "I thought I would be nervous coming here today, but I think competing at London 2012 prepared me for it."

The sportsman is looking to overcome a shoulder injury to perform at the 2016 Paralympics in Rio.
