Shropshire MPs are quick to welcome new royal baby
Shropshire MPs were quick to welcome the arrival of the royal baby.
Philip Dunne, MP for Ludlow, was in Seoul, South Korea, when the Shropshire Star broke the news to him that the baby boy had arrived.
He said: "Fantastic. I am absolutely delighted by the news of a healthy royal baby boy and I wish the very best to the Duchess and Duke of Cambridge.
"I'm sure the whole nation will welcome this new arrival, the next generation of the royal family."
Royal baby: A nation greets our new prince
Daniel Kawczynski, MP for Shrewsbury and Atcham, said: "The whole of Shrewsbury and Shropshire will be delighted for the royal couple. I extend them every sense of congratulations and goodwill for the future.
"I remember when Prince William was born back in 1982. That was a great occasion and now his son will once again bring the nation together in a scene of jubilation and celebration.
"The whole world was watching and waiting for the baby's arrival. All over the world people are interested in our royal family.
"Through that sense of interest and respect for the royal family they continue to show a sense of love and friendship towards the United Kingdom."
Mark Pritchard, MP Telford & Wrekin, said: "This is excellent news I wish the royal couple every happiness.
"I am delighted that both mother and baby are doing well.
"This is a historic moment and it's a very happy time for everyone."
Montgomeryshire MP, Glyn Davies was toasting a double celebration – the birth of the royal baby and his wife, Bobbie's own birthday.
The couple, who were married in 1966, have four children.
Mr Davies said last night: "It is wonderful news about the royal baby boy. Mrs Davies's birthday today as well. So I will never forget her his birthday – or hers! And our first, Edward weighed in at 8lbs 6ozs as well."
He said he was buying champagne for the double celebration.
