Parents plea to release pink balloons for April Jones
The parents of missing five-year-old April Jones have asked people around the world to release pink balloons to mark the youngster's birthday.
Coral and Paul Jones of Machynlleth, who asked people to wear pink ribbons as a sign of faith that April will be found alive, have said they will not give up on their daughter until she is found.
Now the couple have asked wellwishers across the globe to release pink balloons on April 4 to mark the little girl's sixth birthday.
The couple will release balloons from their home Bryn-Y-Gog estate between 6.30pm and 7pm and have urged people across the world to join them.
April's cousin Mel Moon, who is in Australia, said on Facebook: "On April 4 it will be my little cousin April's 6th birthday. Between 6.30pm and 7pm we would like people to get together and let off balloons for April wherever in the world they may be.
"Coral, Paul and family will be letting balloons off on Bryn-Y-Gog green if people wish to join them. They would like it if people could tie a note to say where they are from and their names to see how far they go."
April vanished while playing outside her home in Machynlleth on October 1 last year. Her disappearance sparked a huge search by locals, volunteers and professional search teams which is still ongoing.
Mark Bridger, 47, of Ceinws, Machynlleth, has accepted he is 'probably responsible' for April's death but denies her murder. He will stand trial later this month.
More than 200 people have commented on the Find April Facebook Group that hey will release a balloon for April. Glenys Batt said: "I will release a balloon from Newfoundland, Canada."
Stephanie Bailey-North added: "It will be 10.30am here in California and I will be letting some balloons off for April."
Jenny Lewis-Manboard said: "We will from Shropshire" and Samantha Randle added: "Let's hope she's found by then. Come home April. X"
